The Slope Deflection Calculator analyzes continuous beams via slope deflection, calculating member end moments and displaying solutions step-by-step.
To use the calculator, follow these Instructions:
- Sign Convention for Moments & Joint Rotations: Moments are considered positive when they rotate counterclockwise. Same convention applies to the joint rotations.
- Adherence to Units: Ensure that all input units match the specified units. Incorrect units will lead to inaccurate results.
- Beam Input Criteria: Beam length must be entered before other inputs. Buttons for other elements remain disabled until the beam length is provided.
- Support Input Criteria: Three supports minimum required; if not met, section and settlement buttons stay disabled.
- Section Input Criteria: The I and E values should be left blank if not specified, The coefficient of EI for unspecified spans should be set to 1.
- Settlement Input Criteria: No support settlement is inputted as 0mm.
- Moment Input Guidelines: To input clockwise moments, prefix the value with a '-' sign. Example: '-15kNm'. Neglecting to do so will generate a wrong solution.
